GOVERNANCE, PEACE AND SECURITY TRANSFORMATION INDEX

The index looks at what government, society and the private sector are doing to improve governance, peace and security.  Our assessment scores these constituencies on selected key indicators. These indicators surface high-level leadership and societal transformation in a country, and how this impacts ordinary citizens.

Our report presents key findings that show what government, society and the private sector can do to contribute to a just and equitable society. It also features good practice examples of what constitutes good governance.

Our Governance, Peace and Security Transformation Index is aligned to the following Sustainable Development Goals:

  • SDG10: Reduced Inequalities
  • SDG11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
  • SDG16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
  • SDG17: Partnerships for the Goals

The index aligns to the following goals of the National Development Plan:

  • Focus on the developmental aspects of the White Paper on Safety and Security (16.1, 16.2, 5.2)
  • Increase access to justice for all (16.3, 16.6)
  • Strengthen and broaden South Africa’s participation in international bodies (16.8)
  • Strengthen mechanisms to prevent illicit financial flows (16.4)
  • Combat corruption and bribery and promote and protect the right of public access to

information (16.5, 16.6, 16.7, 16.10)
