TRANSFORMATION JOURNEY

InsightsTI analyses and evaluates to what extent government, society and the private sector are progressing along the following four dimensions of transformation:

Methodology and Quality Assurance

Guided by a standardized codebook, our expert assessors measure each dimension against predefined criteria and indicators. These experts ground the scores they provide in assessments that comprise the transformation reports.

The reports are moderated by independent experts who review these assessments and scores. In a final step, consistency is ensured by subjecting each of the individual scores given per transformation dimension to regional and interregional calibration processes.

Standardizing the analytical process in this way makes targeted comparisons of reform policies possible. Insight2TI aggregates the results of this comprehensive study of transformation processes and political management into seven indices, each corresponding to the transformation dimension being assessed.

Society, Health and Education

The index looks at what government, society and the private sector are doing to contribute to the social transformation of ordinary citizens.

Governance, Peace and Security

The index looks at what government, society and the private sector are doing to improve governance, peace and security. Also shows what can be done to contribute to a just and equitable society.

Economy and Innovation

Determines the extent to which South Africa compares to its trading partners in quality work, economic growth, innovation, infrastructure, production and investment.

Environment and Sustainability

The index looks at what government, society and the private sector are doing to contribute to the transformation of the environment for the benefit of ordinary citizens.

Social

Improve social protection and improve access to social services.

Economy
